Port District FCC History
|
|
|
|
The Port District Football Club Cricket Club began in 1988, competing in the Independent Central Cricket Association on hard wicket pitches.
Over the past 19 years, many great cricketers have graced Largs Reserves and collectively these players and the committee have made the Port District Football Club Cricket Club very successful and respected.
In the 1988/89 season, the club's inaugural year, Fred Rigney captained coach the cricket team. L Matrin was the club's first cricketer of the year and since then there have been another 13 players who have given the honour as the club's best cricketer. Andrew Barty and Glen Rosling both hold the record for winning three Cricketer of the Year awards.
There are 2 players who have made more than 2000 club runs, Bernard Lappin and Mick Ruth. 2 players have taken 200+ wickets for the club, Craig Walker and Glen Rosling.

PDFC's Glen Rosling, (pictured above) prepares to send down another thunderbolt. Glen, with his recent 7 wicket haul, has now become PDFCs highest wicket taker of all time, surpassing the record previously held by Craig Walker.
